PRO FORMULA MAZDA RACE CAR

This Pro Formula Mazda race car was reportedly built in 2004, overhauled in 2010, and raced for several seasons in local NASA events before achieving a second-place finish in the 2021 Formula Car Challenge championship at the hands of driver Josh Fine. Power is from a Mazda Renesis rotary engine mated to a Hewland six-speed sequential transaxle, and the car features an Élan Motorsports Technologies “S-Bend” carbon fiber tub. The bodywork is finished in a blue and black #20 Ian Lacy Racing livery, and equipment includes adjustable front and rear spoilers, a molded seat with a Willans six-point harness, MoTec SDL3 digital display, RaceCo lightening kit, fire suppression system, pushrod suspension with Öhlins adjustable coilovers, Alcon brakes, and 13″ center-lock wheels mounted with Goodyear slicks.

This Pro Formula Mazda is now offered by the seller with a bill of sale. The car is fitted with an Élan Motorsports Technologies “S-Bend” carbon-fiber tub and a Star Racing Cars chassis. It was reportedly overhauled in 2010, at which time a repaint was carried out in the current blue and black livery. Equipment includes a RaceCo lightening kit, dual side-view mirrors, a rear diffuser, and adjustable front and rear spoilers. Center-lock wheels are finished in black and mounted with Goodyear Eagle slicks. The pushrod suspension features adjustable Öhlins coilovers with remote reservoirs, and braking is provided by Alcon calipers, slotted rotors, and a Tilton master cylinder. The cockpit houses a Willans six-point harness surrounded by carbon panels. A shifter is located to the driver’s right, and equipment consists of a fire suppression system, a billet pedal cluster with ball-bearing pedals, and a carbon fiber panel housing buttons and toggle switches for vehicle functions. The open-topped MOMO steering wheel is equipped with a quick-release and fronts a MoTeC SDL3 digital gauge cluster with integrated shift lights. No odometer is fitted, thus total mileage is unknown. The Mazda-sourced Renesis rotary engine was reportedly built by SpeedSource and sends power to the rear wheels via a six-speed Hewland sequential transaxle. Comes with additional set of wheels, tires, springs, and exhaust.
